چکیده
A hybrid finite-discrete element method (FDEM) is proposed to model rock fracture initiation and propagation during a three-point bending test under quasistatic dynamic loading conditions. Three models have been implemented in the FDEM transition from continuum discontinuum through fragmentation. The rate effect on behaviour has taken into account by implementation of relationship between static strengths derived experiments. Brazilian tensile strength modelled calibrate FDEM. can well stress show distribution along vertical diameter disc test. Then, study process tests obtain reasonable toughness. After that, effects toughness are discussed, mesh size orientation patterns also discussed. It concluded that three models. capture valuable tool for studying although sensitive orientation.

Flexural Properties and Fracture Behavior of Nanoporous Alumina film by Three-Point Bending Test
This study investigated the influence of porosity on the flexural property of a nanoporous alumina film. When the porosity of the alumina film increased, both bending strength and modulus declined. The results from the bending test revealed that the setting of the film during the bending test had significant influence on the flexural property. Fracture only occurred when the porous side of the ...
متن کاملBamboo Taper Effect on Third Point Loading Bending Test
Abstract—Geometrical shape of bamboo usually assumed as tapered hollow pipe. This study proved that the dimensional changes along the bamboo stem significantly affected to its Modulus of Rupture (SR) value which measured from third point loading bending test. Therefore if the bending test applied using third point loading configuration, the SR value should be adjusted by strength ratio of taper...
متن کاملExperimental and Numerical Investigation of Rock Dynamic Fracture
Rapid development of engineering activities expands through a variety of rock engineering processes such as drilling, blasting, mining and mineral processing. These activities require rock dynamic fracture mechanics method to characterize the rock behavior. Dynamic fracture toughness is an important parameter for the analysis of engineering structures under dynamic loading. Several experimental...
متن کاملDynamic fracture of linear medium density polyethylene under impact loading conditions
In the present study three-point-bend impact experiments were conducted using a Modified Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (MHPB) to better understand the correlation between impact velocity and critical dynamic energy release rate at crack initiation in linear medium density polyethylene (LMDPE). The MHPB experiments were conducted at impact velocities ranging from 1 to 7 m/s. The dynamic energy re...
متن کاملQuasistatic and Dynamic Regimes of Granular Material Deformation under Impulse Loading
A two-dimensional computer code, using a multi-material Eulerian finite element formulation, was used to investigate the dynamic micromechanical behavior of granular material. The main results are : The strain-rate insensitive material model provides the correct increase in the dissipated energy with an increase of shock pressure ; An increase in the initial porosity or the pressure results in ...
